Dorinda Offord

Dorinda (BA (Birmingham) 1971, MA (Birmingham) 1972, MEd (Bristol) 1981) is the Department's Russian Language Co-ordinator and Year-abroad Co-ordinator and teaches the ab initio and other Russian language courses. 

She was appointed to the post of Language Co-ordinator for Russian in 2005, having taught ab initio Russian at Bristol on a part-time basis for many years. She studied Russian and Philosophy at the University of Birmingham and then spent a year at Moscow State University as a British Council Scholar. She subsequently taught Maths, French and Russian in schools, worked as a Research Assistant in Bristol University’s School of Education, trained as a computer systems analyst and taught translation to students on the post-graduate interpreting and translating course at the University of Bath. More recently she organised the Continuing Education Modern Languages programme and Post-Graduate Diploma in Translation course at the University of Bristol.

She has published translations of articles on Russian music and choreography and editions of Russian choral and operatic works
