I have been a museum professional for over 30 years. As such I have worked on variety of complex audience-focussed projects, exhibitions and displays: it is my prime responsibility, however, to ensure that the collections are a well-used resource for learning, inspiration and enjoyment.  I am a passionate public advocate for museum and collections and so have worked at the forefront of several innovative projects, championing their use in new and exciting ways and especially on the development and delivery of Bristol's newest museum 'M Shed'.  My collaborative work with the University of Bristol began more than 20 years ago and I participate in the delivery of courses relating to artefacts, the archaeological landscape and public interpretation. I also work in partnership with the University of the West of England. As someone keenly aware of the often forgotten role of museums in the wider research agenda I was part of the team that managed the delivery of the South West Archaeological Research Framework. My day to day work often brings me into contact with the media world and I was co-presenter of ITV West's 'Stashed Away', a series of 9 programmes which explored the hidden depths of museum stores.

As Chair of the Society for Museum Archaeology (a UK wide Subject Specialist Network) I provide professional advice and support on best practice across the sector and play an active role in shaping future strategy at a national level. I sit on a variety of forums and panels, including The Archaeology Forum, Historic England's Heritage Information Access Strategy Advisory Board and The Portable Antiquities Scheme Advisory Group.
