Research summary

Katja Krebs’ research interests are mainly in areas related to translation studies, theatre history and historiography, and adaptations for performance. She is particularly interested in the relationship between translation practice and dramatic tradition, and translation and adaptation practices, products and concepts. Related research interests include early twentieth-century European theatre history, pan-European theatre exchanges, and the investigation of translation as performative practice.

Katja would be keen to supervise research students interested in areas relating to translation and adaptation, historiography, nineteenth- and twentieth-century European theatre history, translation and theatre practice, and the construction of dramatic traditions.

I studied at the Performance Translation Centre at the University of Hull for my PhD, took up my first lecturing post at the University of Glamorgan in South Wales, and am, since 2008, a lecturer in the Drama Department at the University of Bristol.
