Bicycles
Basic security:
- Do not leave your bike in isolated places.
- Always lock your bike when you leave it, even if it is only for a minute while you pop into a shop.
- Lock your bike through the frame.
- Lock wheels and other detachable parts.
- Mark your bike with a post code or student id - that way if it is recovered it can be returned.
- Take a photo of your bike incase a description is needed.
- Use the bike sheds provided for staff rather than lamp posts or railings. Students please see the information below.
In the past academic year (August to July) we had reports of 63 bikes stolen or attempted. This compares with 77 from the previous academic year (09/10) a 17% drop. Most of these thefts would have been avoided if a decent lock had been used.
