The Aim of the Prizes: The Prizes will support existing and/or new links between Bristol University and Brazil and are intended for students wishing to study in Brazil. The value of each grant is of £800 each, and there will normally be four awards available. Undergraduate and postgraduate students may apply.

The Aim of the Prizes

The Prizes will support existing and/or new links between Bristol University and Brazil and are intended for students wishing to study in Brazil. The value of each grant is of £800 each, and there will normally be four awards available. Undergraduate and postgraduate students may apply.

Applicants must submit with the completed application form copies of

either:  their transcript of marks to date (undergraduates);

or:        a copy of their undergraduate degree results and a transcript of marks to date (taught MA students);

or:        a copy of their undergraduate and MA results (if applicable) and a letter of support from their principal supervisor indicating progress to date (research postgraduate students).

Further documentary evidence is required from students wishing to apply under criterion 1) below. See guidelines on application form.

The Prizes will be awarded after consideration of the following factors:

  1. Evidence of financial need in order to spend time studying in Brazil, and/or evidence of having entered the University of Bristol via a Widening Participation route.
  2. Explanation of the university at which the student wishes to study, indication of whether this university has a formal partnership with the University of Bristol, and a narrative statement (200 words maximum) explaining the applicant’s reasons for applying to the Brazilian university (see application form).
  3. Overall performance in Year 1 and Year 2 (undergraduate), including language units. Academic record to date and overall progress on the postgraduate programme (postgraduates).

TWO COPIES of this form should be given to Dr Rhian Atkin (2.51, 15 Woodland Road) by 15 February 2013. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Award-winners will be notified by the end of February.
