Research summary

Currently I am working on a research project that examines the role of the interview through the prism of listening and the ethical relation in a selection of films and documentaries. The case studies I have chosen focus predominantly on works by French, Francophone and European women filmmakers. My first monograph, Godard and Sound: Acoustic Innovation in the Late Films of Jean-Luc Godard explores the relationship of sound to vision in cinema, and in turn our relationship as spectators with the audio-visual in the later films of Jean-Luc Godard. Biography

Albertine joined the Department of French at Bristol in 2017. After completing her PhD in French at Royal Holloway, University of London, she was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship in Modern & Medieval Languages at Churchill College, Cambridge. She also holds a BA in French with Music and an MA by Research on the 1970s cinema of Marguerite Duras.
