Dr Albertine Fox

Currently I am working on a research project that examines the role of the interview through the prism of listening and the ethical relation in a selection of films and documentaries. The case studies I have chosen focus predominantly on works by French, Francophone and European women filmmakers. My first book, Godard and Sound: Acoustic Innovation in the Late Films of Jean-Luc Godard (I.B.Tauris, 2017), explores the relationship of sound to vision and in turn our relationship as spectators with the audio-visual in the later films and multimedia work of the Swiss-French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard. My other research and teaching interests include voice studies, gender studies, installation art, film theory, critical theory, and musicology.
