Dr Albertine Fox

My current research examines the role of the interview through the prism of listening and the ethical relation in films and documentaries by French, Francophone and European filmmakers. Part of this project is particularly concerned with the work of Chantal Akerman. Other research interests that dovetail with this project include installation art, theories of voice and listening, sound and relationality, and storytelling. My first monograph Godard and Sound: Acoustic Innovation in the Late Films of Jean-Luc Godard is published with I.B.Tauris and explores the relationship of sound to vision in cinema, and in turn our relationship as spectators with the audiovisual in the later films of Jean-Luc Godard.
