Dr Connor Doak

Biography

Originally from Northern Ireland, Connor obtained a BA from Cambridge (2005), an MSt from Oxford (2007), and a PhD from Northwestern University (2013). In 2012–3, he was awarded a Dissertation Completion Fellowship from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and American Council of Learned Societies as he finished his PhD on Mayakovsky's poetry. He joined the Bristol staff in 2013.

Connor is dedicated to outreach and public engagement. He has a special interest in Schools Liasion and Widening Participation and has built links between the University of Bristol and a number of schools in the south-west of England and beyond. Connor was elected to the Executive Board of UCML (the University Council of Modern Languages) in 2018, and co-opted on to the Executive Board of BASEES, the British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies.
