Dr Ellen Pilsworth

Ellen’s research focuses on German literature of the eighteenth century. Her doctoral thesis explored authorial self-stylisation in political poetry between 1760 and 1815, investigating strategies of poetic role-play.


She currently holds a Sylvia Naish visiting fellowship at the Institute of Modern Languages Research, and was a Michael Foster Memorial Scholar (DAAD/ University of Oxford) at the Ruprecht-Karls Üniversität, Heidelberg, from 2012–2013.
