Research summary

My thesis seeks to examine the thinking behind representations of the Islamic world and Islam, understood as a set of beliefs and practices, by prominent French commentators. Its original contribution to knowledge is to reflect on the construction of French culture through the textual analysis of significant voices that have made themselves heard from 9/11 to the Paris attacks of 2015, drawing a spectrum of what is deemed as acceptable French culture.

Biography

Fabrice Roger is a French Teaching Fellow in the School of Modern Languages. He joined Bristol in 2012, after working for several years as a French language tutor in Swansea University and for a term as a lecturer in French and Translation in Cardiff University.

Fabrice graduated in Langues Etrangères Appliquées (Université d’Angers, 2006) and has an MA in Translation (Swansea University, 2011) and a PGCE (University of Wales Trinity Saint David, 2011). He is currently working on a doctoral thesis on the representation of Islam in France from 9/11 to the Paris attacks of 2015.
