Jana is a Deputy Language Director with responsibility for Czech. She has been at the University of Bristol since 2001. She is responsible for teaching and organisation of all Czech language units at undergraduate level as well as teaching on distance learning MA in Translation Programme.
Based on her research interest, she designed and teaches cultural units ‘Czech Gender Relations’, ‘Introduction to Czech Cinema since 1963’ and ‘Contemporary Czech Society and Politics’. She also contributes to new school-wide units, ‘Woman and Nation’ and ‘Communism in Europe’.

Jana completed BA in Legal Studies in Prague in 1999 with a dissertation on Legality of Pornography. She then completed MSc in Gender Studies in 2002 at Birkbeck with dissertation on Emancipation of Czech women. In 2011 she completed her MPhil in Czech Literature at UCL, London with the title 'Czech Mothers: Gender and Nation in Czech Women’s Literature'.
Before joining University of Bristol, Jana has been teaching Czech language since 1995, from one to one to group teaching assignments at all levels - Survival, Beginner’s and Intermediate Czech and Czech for Business.
