She is also currently working on a monograph project on 'Tolerating the Other in Old French epic texts'.

Before coming to Bristol as a lecturer in 2007 I was for a number of years a part-time College lecturer at Wadham College, Oxford. A graduate of Edinburgh University with a degree in French with English, I initially moved to England for the one year MA in Medieval Studies at Reading University, staying there for my PhD on the French and English verse texts of the Fierabras legend, under the supervision of Professor Wolfgang van Emden. My period of specialism allows me enjoy the richness of French at a period of great felixibility and rapid change in the language while as a literary scholar I take an interdisciplinary approach with a strong sense of historical context and awareness of manuscript tradition.

My undergraduate teaching includes: Introduction to Medieval Literature; Before the Novel, experiments in prose fiction; From Old to Middle French; The Crusades and their Representation in Medieval French Literature. I also contribute to first year core courses on Shaping France and Reading Literary and Visual Cultures.

I am currently Programme Director for the MA in Medieval Studies.

I have supervised or co-supervisedthe following recently completed PhDs:

Jade Bailey: 'A Study and Partial edition of Fierabras in British Library Royal 15 E VI' (graduated 2014)

Tamzin Simmons: 'Dante and Memory' (completed 2014)

Hannah Walters: Clerical Cultures In Twelfth And Early Thirteenth-Century Anglo-Norman Narrative' (submitted 2014)

I am currently supervising a  Phd on ‘From History to epic: The Siege of Antioch in Chanson de Geste Literature’ and an M.Phil student looking at medieval romance.
