Research summary

My research interests lie in late twentieth-century Italian culture. Recent research has focused on cultural representations of Italy’s experience of political violence and terrorism in the anni di piombo, with particular reference to the psychological trauma associated with women’s participation in the violence of the anni di piombo. The culmination of the project is the monograph Women, Terrorism, and Trauma in Italian Culture (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013).

Biography

Ruth Glynn studied Italian and Classical Civilization at the National University of Ireland, Galway, before proceeding to an MA in Italian Studies at University College Dublin. She subsequently completed her PhD at the University of Birmingham and lectured at the University of Leeds (1999-2000) before being appointed to the Italian Department in Bristol in 2000.
