Summary

My research focuses on the poetry and poetics of the Americas, with interests in word and image studies, experimental approaches to the practice and theory of translation, and materialisms old and new.  I am currently at work on a book project entitled Word, Image, Object: On the Matter of Poetics in Hemispheric America.

Biography

I joined the University of Bristol in September 2015 as Lecturer in Translation Studies. I am a member of the Department of Hispanic, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies and sit on the board of the Bristol Poetry Institute. Previously, I was a Mellon Graduate Fellow at the Society for the Humanities at Cornell University, where I also received my Ph.D. in comparative literature. Before coming to Bristol, I held teaching positions at Cornell, Penn State University, and the University of Chicago. In addition to my research into poetry and translation, I also write poetry and translate from Spanish and Portuguese.

Teaching

At Bristol, I teach undergraduate and postgraduate units in translation theory and practice, as well as units in Latin American poetry, poetics, and art.
