Ms Ruth Winter

Biography

I joined the department in September 2011 as Deputy Language Director of German. I studied Human Geography, English and Italian at the University of Mainz (Magister artium and 1. Staatsexamen) and subsequently completed a PGCE in German and French at Oxford University in 2002. I have taught German, French and Italian at secondary schools and in further and higher education institutions before becoming Lifelong Learning Coordinator at the University of Bristol Language Centre in 2005.  I later took on the coordination of the Applied Foreign Languages (AFL) Programmes in German and Italian at the Language Centre before transferring to the School of Modern Languages. I currently teach Year 1 (Ab Initio) and Year 4 language classes and I am the Erasmus+ Work Placement Coordinator.

My main interests as a language teacher are the promotion and support of autonomous language learning and the effective use of e-learning tools.

My office hours are: Thursday and Friday 11-12h.
