Ms Ruth Winter

Biography

I joined the department in September 2011 as Deputy Language Director of German. I studied Human Geography, English and Italian at the University of Mainz (Magister artium and 1. Staatsexamen) and subsequently completed a PGCE in German and French at Oxford University in 2002. I have taught German, French and Italian at secondary schools and in further and higher education institutions before becoming Lifelong Learning Coordinator at the University of Bristol Language Centre in 2005.  I later took on the coordination of the Applied Foreign Languages (AFL) Programmes in German and Italian at the Language Centre before transferring to the School of Modern Languages.

My main interests as a language teacher are the promotion and support of autonomous language learning and the effective use of e-learning tools.

My office hours are: Tuesday, 2-3pm and Wednesday 12-1pm.
