Research summary

My current research interests lie in the field of eighteenth century Spanish literature and intellectual history and I am the author of The Debate on the Nature, Role and Influence of Woman in Eighteenth-Century Spain, (Lewiston, NY: The Edwin Mellen Press, 1995). In 2009 I completed a scholarly edition of the uncut text of Leandro Moratín's La mojigata, based on a manuscript of the play presented by the author himself to Elizabeth, Lady Holland in 1804, which is in press with the Madrid editorial Castalia. I am currently working in three separate but interrelated areas. Biography

A graduate in Spanish and Philosophy from the University of Sheffield (BA Hons 1st Class 1986; PhD 1991), I was appointed as a Junior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol in 1989 and then to a Lectureship in 1990. I was the Faculty of Arts Dean of Undergraduate Studies from 1997 – 2000 and following promotion to Senior Lecturer, Head of Department from 2000 – 2006.
