New start dates
The PG DIP/MA in Translation now offers two start dates a year, in September and January.
Research programmes (MPhil, PhD)
We offer a research-based Masters (MPhil) in translation as well as a PhD programme.
Research specialisms include:
- literary translation
- translation history
- audiovisual translation
- drama translation.
In addition to research topics focusing on single language areas, we actively encourage interdisciplinary research that cuts across languages or other intellectual disciplines in the Faculty of Arts.

Current PhD projects include several practice-based projects (fiction, non-fiction, short fiction) and projects on legal translation briefing; Penguin Russian classics; comparative literature; translation and interpreting for homeless service users.

Translation Studies is among the subjects eligible for funding from the AHRC South West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership. The Faculty of Arts also offers funding opportunities for taught and research programmes.
