The School welcomes applications from graduates with good undergraduate or Masters degrees in relevant disciplines. We encourage applications for projects in statistics, economics, epidemiology, ethics, human genetics, bioinformatics, sociology, and psychology applied to health.
Successful applicants will join a group of about 80 postgraduate students studying for PhD, MD or MSc by research qualifications. The School is a leading centre for research and teaching in population health sciences with a strong international reputation. Our School receives excellent student feedback scores for the quality of supervision, resources, research culture and research skills training (including a short course programme) provided for postgraduates. All staff and students are located in two buildings in the popular Clifton area of Bristol, a vibrant and cosmopolitan city in the South West of England.
The School hosts a number of doctoral training centres and research centres which issue regular calls for applications for funded postgraduate studentships. Please use the links below to find out more about these programmes.
We welcome enquiries from UK, EU or international applicants who have already secured funding, are self-funded or who are currently seeking funding to support their postgraduate studies. Applicants seeking funding are encouraged to search the University of Bristol funding database for funding opportunities.
Applicants can select from one of our listed research projects or develop their own topic within one of those research areas. Either way, we strongly encourage applicants to make contact with potential supervisors (including a copy of the applicant's CV) to discuss eligibility and potential funding before making a formal application.
