Dr Jeremy Horwood

I have a background in psychology. My doctoral work examined the contradictions and tensions in the construction and negotiation of male identities.

Before moving into applied health research, I worked on a large birth cohort study as Head of the Psychology Team for The Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) where i was responsible for co-ordinated the psychology research portfolio.

I have worked in the fields of primary health care and secondary care concerning a range of different conditions. I have interdisciplinary interests, predominately the use of qualitative methods to investigate users' experience of health and health services and to develop and evaluate interventions. I am an active member of the British Psychological Society and the Society of Academic Primary Care.
