Research summary

I am an epidemiologist funded by the Medical Research Council and Alcohol Research UK. My projects are on substance abuse in children, adolescents and adults in the UK (Children of the 90's Study formerly ALSPAC) and in India (Consortium on Vulnerability to Externalising Disorders and Addictions (cVEDA)).

My previous research was on the prevalence of self-reported pain and osteoarthritis in the general population (Arthritis Research UK) and in retired professional footballers (FIFA). Gwen graduated with a first class BSc (hons) in Podiatry in 2008 from the University of Wales, Cardiff. Subsequently, she was awarded a Research Capacity Building Collaboration Scholarship with the Welsh Government (2009-2012) and completed her PhD in lower limb biomechanics in individuals with knee osteoarthritis. She holds a teaching qualification from the University of Wales and has been an active Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2013.
