My main research interests are in Evidence Synthesis, particularly in the sources of bias in randomized controlled trials and non-randomized studies and the effects of such biases on the results of meta-analyses.

I graduated from the University of Belgrade (Serbia) in 1999 with a Dipl.Pharm. in Pharmacy. In 2003 I completed my PhD in the exploration of dynamic combinatorial chemistry in drug discovery at the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology at the University of Bath. After a brief postdoctoral post at Bath University where I worked on synthesis and testing of caged iron chelators for prevention of UV light induced oxidative stress, I pursued a change in direction. In 2004 I started working on systematic reviews in herbal medicines and drug safety at the Peninsula Medical School, in the Complementary Medicine research group led by Professor Ernst. I joined the University of Bristol in October 2005 to work on four large diet and cancer reviews commissioned by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) and on the BRANDO study (Bias in Randomised and Observational studies), assessing the effects of three bias domains on the results of meta-analyses and on the resulting heterogeneity). In 2008 I was awarded a training fellowship from the UK Medical Research Council to conduct an empirical study into the effects of bias using meta-analyses from Cochrane systematic reviews. As part of this fellowship, I had an opportunity to formally train as an epidemiologist, by completing an MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2009.
