Research summary

My PhD thesis was titled 'The clinical and psychosocial status of young adults receiving renal replacement therapy in the United Kingdom' and involved evidence synthesis, survival analysis in a registry dataset, survey analysis with general population comparator data and regression analysis to explore associations with key outcomes.

I was the Chief Investigator for the SPEAK study (Surveying People Experiencing young Adult Kidney failure). This was a national survey-based study which established psychosocial health outcomes for young people on dialysis or with a kidney transplant, and closed to recruitment in 2017.

Biography

Alex is an adult nephrology trainee (ST6) in the Peninsula/Severn deanery. He graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2007 and completed Core Medical Training in the South West, gaining his MRCP in 2010.  In 2014 Alex completed an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, supervised by Dr Coralie Bingham and Prof Andrew Hattersley.
