My PhD focuses on the physical activity and sedentary behaviours of preschool children, with a particular interest in factors that influence these behaviours outside of the preschool setting. I’m using a mixed methods approach, collecting interview, accelerometry and survey data from preschool children and their parents.
My PhD is supervised by Dr Katrina Turner (Centre for Academic Primary Care) and Prof Russ Jago (Centre for Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences). I am also based at the Centre for Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences (School for Policy Studies).
I completed a BSc in Nutrition and Health (2005) at Roehampton University and an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health (2008) from the University of Bristol. I worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences (ENHS) from 2007 on various projects including TeamPlay, Project OPAL (Older People and Active Living), Project TREAD, AVONet (jointly with the University of Bath) and analysis of Bristol PCTs Slimming World on referral scheme.
