Research summary

Sabina Sanghera is a Lecturer in Health Economics. Sabina holds an NIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship (2018-2022) to determine how best to measure and value quality of life in economic evaluations when health fluctuates.

Her other research interests are in the measurement and valuation of outcomes beyond health, economic evaluation in public health, women’s health and cancer.

She has published in these areas in peer-reviewed journals such as Social Science and Medicine, PharmacoEconomics and Health Expectations. From the University of Birmingham, Sabina has a BMedSc in Medical Sciences (2008), an MSc in Health Economics and Health Policy (2010) and a PhD in Health Economics (2014). 

Sabina’s PhD was titled ‘A comparison of welfarist and extra-welfarist approaches to valuing outcomes in menorrhagia’. As part of this research, she developed a decision model and explored the use of three measures (EQ-5D, SF-6D and willingness-to-pay) in a chronic condition with episodic symptoms. The focus of her published MSc dissertation was on illustrating appropriate methods for conducting economic evaluations of diagnostic tests.
