Research summary

I am a health economist, now retired, who was previously based in the successful centre for academic primary care. While there I enjoyed the benefit of being involved in a range of different applied studies. Many of these were randomised controlled trials, and my role was to carry out or supervise the part of the study that assessed the cost-effectiveness of an intervention. Methodological research was carried out alongside applied studies. 

I now hold an honorary contract and remain invloved in the writing up and dissemination of ongoing projects.

Biography

In 1995 I was introduced to the world of health economics through a burden of disease study, based here in Bristol. After completing the project and a postgraduate diploma in health economics at the University of Tromso I had a succession of different jobs at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Gwent Health Authority and the University of Bath. These gave me lots of experience of different aspects of health economics and health services research in general.
