Dr Sean Cowlishaw

Biography

Dr Sean Cowlishaw is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Academic Primary Care (CAPC) and School of Social and Community Medicine at the University of Bristol. He is also a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Gambling Research and School of Sociology at the Australian National University (ANU). Sean obtained his PhD in psychology from La Trobe University (06-09), after undertaking his doctoral studies on the impacts of trauma and work-related factors (including work-family interactions) on the families of Australian emergency service volunteers. He was employed subsequently (10-12) as a research fellow and statistician at Monash University in Australia; across healthy ageing and cognitive neuroscience units, and a problem gambling research centre. Dr Cowlishaw moved to the UK and accepted a lecturing appointment at Lancaster University in early 2013, while maintaining a visiting fellowship at the ANU. He joined the School of Social and Community Medicine at the University of Bristol in May 2014.
