Research summary

Research Capability funding to prepare an NIHR application for a feasibility study of an intervention to support early child development in refugees and migrants from disadvantaged backgrounds, starting with the local Somali population, as there has been an excess of children from a Somali background presenting to child health with difficulties with learning, language and social skills. The intention would be to see if the well-evidenced benefit of support for child development and prevention of disability in contexts of social adversity (see for example the Chief Medical Officer's annual report 2012) applies also to refugees/migrants from disadvantaged backgrounds ...
