Research

Our approach

Gender is not just a way of dividing up bodies into Ms and Fs. It's everywhere and all around us. Our research uses the 'gender lens' to explore relationships and power

  • in institutional and intimate settings,
  • in embodied practices and encoded representations,
  • in local, national and international settings.

Informed by feminism and taking a global view, we are using inter-disciplinary methodologies from sociology, politics and international studies to challenge 'what everyone knows' about bodies and minds, identities and cultures, hierarchies and equalities.

Current and past funded projects

The marginalisation of migrant men as people with affective ties and vulnerabilities... is deserving of more widespread concern and scholarly attention
