Information here applies to all applicants for our PhD programmes (PhD Politics, PhD Sociology, PhD East Asian Studies and PhD Security, Conflict and Justice and PhD Global Political Economy), who have been made an offer of a place within the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies.
If you have been accepted as a SWDTC funded 1+3 student you will be completing the MSc in Social Science Research Methods before moving onto the PhD programme. Visit the taught postgraduate pages for information on Welcome Week and registration.

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Law will email all students who have accepted their offer (via the online application system) with a registration pack containing information about registration and other important matters that you will need to deal with before you arrive. You can also find registration information on the University's new students pages.
A timetable of local events will be published here in August as venues and dates are confirmed.
Timetables for the first teaching block seminars (your 3 core research methods units) are normally available a couple of days after registration. You can check online via MyBristol after you have registered. Your first teaching day will be on the Monday after Welcome Week. This is the compulsory start date for teaching. We expect you to be here for your registration and available every day for teaching from then on in your first term to complete your 3 core research methods units. If you have previously been taught Qualitative and Quantitative Methods and/or Research Design in a previous intitution please email us details as you may be eligible for an exemption.
