The Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health is situated on three sites. The Indoor Centre, Swimming Pool and the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex (outdoor centre). We provide a wide range of programmes and activities to interest students, staff and the general public. There are many classes and activities for everyone, providing for those whose main interest is sport and others who are more concerned about their personal health and well-being.
Indoor Centre
The Indoor Centre in a central location on Tyndall Avenue, it has a wide range of exciting facilities and makes it the genuine 'healthy hear' of the University. The building contains the bulk of our indoor facilities. Here you can find the The Pulse Fitness Suite, Studios, Sports Hall and an indoor jogging track. It also serves as the administrative centre of our activities. Here you can find out what is available, what is happening and how you can be involved.
Sports Medicine Clinic
The Exercise and Sports Medicine Workshop is also housed in the indoor centre and offers many services, from advice on exercise and training to the treatment of injury and subsequent rehabilitation. We have our own excellent professional staff, with access to a complete range of medical services.
Coombe Dingle Sports Complex (Outdoor Centre)
The Coombe Dingle Sports Complex is a superb sporting facility situated on a 38-acre site in the heart of Stoke Bishop, North Bristol (approximately 3 miles away from the main centre). The outdoor centre provides a unique atmosphere in a relaxed and tranquil environment, offering a wide range of outdoor and indoor opportunities for all students, staff and members of the public.
Swimming Pool
The Swimming pool is situated beneath the Students' Union Building, with its own entrance on Richmond Hill Avenue. The pool is operational seven days a week for 50 weeks of the year, providing a wide and varied programme to cater for all standards of swimmers. The swimming pool has six lanes and is 33.3m long. The depth ranges from 1.2m to 4m and the temperature of the pool remains at a constant 28c (82f).
Squash
Although the Squash Courts are not situated in the Indoor Centre, the Bristol Grammar Schools 4 glass backed courts are less than a 3 minute walk. They are used by the men's and women's squash clubs for training and match purposes but are also available for casual use.
Saltford Boathouse
The University Boat Club is based at excellent facilities in Saltford, halfway to Bath on the River Avon. Saltford is in an ideal setting for both competition and recreational fun. The Boat Club is extremely successful, with over half of its members learning as novices in their first year at Bristol.
