Move Well

Physical activity is essential for our health and well-being - both physical and mental. We're advised to spend at least 30 minutes on 5 or more days of the week participating in moderately intense activities. You'll know you've hit moderate intensity when the activity  makes you breathe slightly harder and you feel that bit warmer than normal but  can still talk.

Heart The benefits of being physically active include:

It isn’t always easy to find the time and energy to fit activity into our busy lives and our sedentary lifestyles can make it even more difficult to fit activity into our daily routine. However, you can choose to change your lifestyle so that being active is built into your day and not just bolted on.

There are lots of ways to get your 30 mins every day none of which require any real skill, specialist equipment or memberships - even trainers are optional!

So, when can you move well instead of sitting well? How much of your journey to and from work or lectures could be walked or cycled? When catching up with friends could you walk and talk instead of sitting and swopping? How about breaking the lift habit and taking the stairs!

Your 30 minutes can be broken down into 2 x 15 mins or even 3 x 10minutes so you really can inject bursts of activity into your day and feel energised and ready for work or study in no time at all.

Move well, feel well.
