The University Bristol Union (UBU) has 53 sport clubs of which 20 are recognised as Focus sports clubs (PDF, 24KB).
A Focus sports club is eligible for additional support in order to compete at the highest level of student sport.
The Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health is responsible for the appointment of coaches to work with our Focus sports clubs. We currently employ more than 30 coaches, including full-time directors of coaching for rugby, rowing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
Our policy is to appoint - on a long-term basis - the best coaching talent available. This provides the expertise and continuity to most effectively ensure long-term success for our clubs. We have high expectations of our coaches and therefore we try to provide them with the best possible coaching environment.
