High Performance Squad

Adam BellamyThe principal method of financially supporting talented student athletes at the University is membership of the High Performance Squad . Individual squad members develop their own 'action plan' which determines the services they require. Membership of the squad is the equivalent to a sports bursary of approximately £1000 p.a.

Vice Chancellor's Award

Twelve awards (current value £1,500 pa) are made to new students who show exceptional talents in sport or the arts. Individuals will be expected to have succeeded at national rather than regional level and have met the normal academic criteria for entry to the University. The awards can be provisionally made to prospective students, and confirmed upon the student’s acceptance of an offer of a place at the University.

Lloyd Robinson Sports Scholarship

A few scholarships are awarded each year to students of exceptional sporting ability, who may also demonstrate great need. The award is worth up to £250 per funding round. Details are available on application from matt.edwards@bristol.ac.uk

Graduate and Undergraduate Rowing Scholarships

Up to six of these awards are available for talented oarsmen and women annually. Recipients of this award, worth up to £1000 pa, are required to become members of the High Performance Sports Squad. Please contact Matt Paine (Sport Performance Manager).

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS)

The University is a member of the South West consortium of TASS HE institutions. This national scheme provides funds for talented young athletes who wish to pursue a formal academic programme but maintain their commitment to performance sport. Grants of £3,500 p.a. are awarded by National Governing Bodies for selected sports.
