Student Lucy Attwood named in England Rugby training camp squad at Loughborough

Press release issued: 3 October 2018

England Women head coach Simon Middleton has named the squad of 36 players to convene at Loughborough University on Thursday 4 October for a four-day training camp ahead of the three-Test Quilter Internationals which take place next month.

Maths student Lucy Attwood was named alongside five other players from England U20’s successful three-game tour in Canada this summer.  Lucy, who currently plays for the Bristol Bears, received a RED award for outstanding contribution to sport at the University of Bristol in June this year.

Keith Leaker, Head Coach for the University of Bristol Women's Rugby Club says of Lucy's selection "Hearing the news that Lucy had been selected for the England Women's Senior Rugby Squad was no surprise to anyone involved with UBWRFC.  Hugely popular, hard-working, gifted and modest, it was only a matter of time before her talent was recognised. This is a fantastic opportunity for her and we're keeping our fingers crossed that she will go on to be selected for one of the 28 full-time contracts for the Autumn Internationals Squad.  We're sure it won't be long before she gains her first full cap".
