We have an excellent team of staff supporting our performance squad, athletes and clubs, including over 30 different coaches, and experts in strength and conditioning and nutrition.

Matt delivers our programme for Performance athletes, Clubs and Coaches. After graduating from Southampton University with a degree in Sport and Business Matt has worked in a variety of roles supporting young people aged 16-24. Recently embarking upon a part-time Masters in Sport, Business and Leadership at Loughborough London, Matt wishes to further develop his knowledge around this ever-changing subject and use his knowledge to help shape the Performance programme at Bristol.

Sophie is responsible for the day to day running of our BUCS programme, facilitating over 50 different sports within regular team fixtures, tournaments and stand alone events across the country between other universities. She also supports clubs with their development throughout the year in conjunction with the Performance process, as well as assisting in the ever growing Varsity competition that runs year on year between Bristol and UWE.

Currently working under Steve Peters at Chimp Management providing a consultancy service around locating your Inner Chimp - famously used with professional teams and athletes. Leonie, who has an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology, was a Lecturer in Sport Development at the University of Northampton. Prior to this she worked in sport development for 10 years, spending 7 years at England Athletics and culminating in a national role as Coach Development Manager, overseeing a locally delivered national coach development programme.

Former Professional Rugby Player turned Professional Coach (RFU level 3) Joe has a wealth of experience in coaching roles, as well as degrees from the University of Bath and UWE. Joe says "As a creative and passionate coach, there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing our student athletes reach their potential as players and leaders, whilst making memories and having fun, within an enjoyable, dynamic and challenging player centred learning environment".

Hailing from Australia, Cameron has degrees in Biology, Education and Sport & Exercise Science and has coached many athletes on to national teams. Formally Women's Coach at Durham University, Cameron led his squad to numerous Henley Women's Regatta wins, BUCS Championship wins and four Victor Ludorum trophies, and is well placed to grow the rowing program in Bristol to new heights. Our programme aims to develop talented individuals into robust and successful athletes who can compete nationally and internationally.

Ben joins Bristol from his position as Director of Hockey at Bromsgrove School. Having played and coached at junior international level, played in the Euro Hockey League and coached in the English Premier Division, Ben brings a wide range of knowledge and experience to this Head Coach position. A passionate, enthusiastic and energetic coach, he will be looking to take the University's hockey to the next level.

Having coached sports since the age of 16, Will found his interest for Strength and Conditioning whilst studying his undergraduate degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Will has a varied background working within football, field hockey and rugby, and is looking forward to helping the various performance clubs within the University. “Developing the Strength and Conditioning programme at the University is a massive opportunity to help our teams improve their performance."
