Swimming Pool now open
If you are returning to the Swimming Pool after the covid-closure, please watch this short video to familiarise yourself with our new policies, (e.g. please come 'swim-ready') put in place to keep you safe when you visit us. All swim sessions must now be booked in advance.

Spectators will not be permitted for any adult activity, training or matches on university premises.
For children's sport: One parent/guardian (and siblings with no option but to attend) will be allowed to stay on site, but they must socially distance and check in as per club's track and trace protocol. A face covering must be worn by all those aged 11 plus when entering university buildings.
For University swim and tennis courses, including individual lessons: There is a drop and go policy for parents/guardians of children of 8 years and over. Parents/guardians must remain close to the venue, and contactable in case of emergencies. Parents/guardians of children who are under 8 years of age (and siblings with no option but to attend) are required to stay on the premises in allocated spectator areas. Social distancing must be maintained, and a face covering must be worn by those aged 11 plus when inside the building when not partaking in activity.
Change to Off-Peak and Peak times
In line with the extension to our opening hours, we have now changed the off peak and peak time slots for the gym facility and fitness classes programme.
Off-peak passes provide access as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 6am - 2.30pm
- Saturday: 8am - 8pm
- Sunday: 8am - 10pm (gym closes at 8pm)
Peak passes provide access as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 6am - 10pm
- Saturday: 8am - 8pm
- Sunday: 8am - 10pm (gym closes at 8pm)
UCards and attendance
In line with Sport, Exercise & Health's COVID-Secure certification we require all users of our facilities (Indoor Sports Centre, Coombe Dingle Sports Complex and the Swimming Pool) to carry their Ucard and ensure that they scan at either a Welcome Desk or an access gate to register their attendance at their pre-booked session or club training session.
This is to ensure that we can contact you, if required, for NHS Test and Trace purposes.
If you do not have your Ucard with you when you visit one of the Sport, Exercise & Health facilities you may be refused entry.
Sports Medicine Clinic
The Sports Medicine Clinic is now able to provide face-to-face treatment where appropriate. The Clinic will be operating from the University's Coombe Dingle Sports Complex only. Unfortunately, due to social distancing limitations appointments will not be available at the Indoor Sports Centre on Tyndall Avenue.
We are currently offering physiotherapy only. We have in place a range of measures to ensure a safe, COVID-secure environment for staff and our clients. For further details please see our Sports Medicine Clinic website.
Treatment will commence with a virtual-first approach, involving a phone or video call to include screening for COVID systems and an individual risk assessment. On confirming a face-to-face appointment, you will be able to pay in advance online or over the phone. More details will be provided.

Indoor Sports Centre
We can confirm that we received our COVID-Secure certification from the University for the Indoor Sports Centre in August.
Due to the additional health and safety requirements, there will be some changes to how you access our facilities and services. Please view these short videos on returning to the Gym, Studio 1 and Sports Hall before your first visit back.
- Extended capacity
To provide additional capacity in our gym we have now re-opened the upstairs gym and extended the gym into studio 3. We will continue to maintaining strict COVID-19 social distancing guidelines to ensure safe operation of the facilities. The upstairs gym and studio have maximum room capacities so if you enter either of these areas and it seems to be full please move to a different area of the gym. Our Health and Fitness Team will be available across the gym to provide guidance as required.
- Book online
Access to the gym and classes will be through pre-booked sessions only - book online. Gym sessions will be for one hour and you will only be able to make one booking per day.
- One way system
There will be a one-way system in operation around the Centre (view the videos for more information).
All payments will need to be through your online account, we will not be taking payments at the Welcome Desk.
- Face coverings
Entrance will not be permitted to the Indoor Sports Centre or Indoor Tennis Centre if you are not wearing a face covering. All members will be required to wear a face covering before entering your exercise area. Once you enter your exercise area it is at your own discretion as to whether you wear a face covering whilst undertaking your activity. You will need to wear your face covering when you leave the building.
- Changing facilities
Changing facilities are not currently available, so please bring minimal items with you and arrive dressed for your activity. There will be a few small lockers available for essential personal belongings, e.g. keys, phones, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Exercise mats
For covid-19 sanitation reasons we are currently asking Fitness Class and B:Active Campus class attendees to bring their own mat (where the session requires it), rather than providing shared mats. Mats are available to buy at the ISC reception for £18.

It is really important that if you do feel unwell that you do not visit any of our facilities.
The essence of our service remains the same and we will provide our usual high-level support from our qualified and knowledgeable staff and instructors.
Tennis at Coombe Dingle
We are adhering to the University of Bristol Campus guidelines alongside the LTA guidelines for venues, coaches and players, these guidelines include social distancing measures, encouraging hand hygiene and adhering to lock down advice. Please familiarise yourself with these guidelines before proceeding to make a booking.
Outdoor courts are available to book Monday to Friday 9 - 8pm (last booking 7 - 8pm) and 9 - 2pm at the weekend (last booking 7 - 8pm). £8 per court per hour. You can book online here.
There are a limited number of B:Active Campus classes available to book online.
All B:Active Residences activity is currently running in the form of livestream classes via the Sport, Exercise and Health app.

From 1st May access to the Les Mills on-demand service has changed. You'll now be able to view 800+ workouts which change monthly, 13 fitness programmes and access from your tv, tablet, computer or phone. Normally this costs £11.95 per month but we have exclusively secured all University of Bristol students, staff and sports pass holders a free two-month long trial*, and a discounted monthly rate of £7.94 thereafter should you wish to pay for the service.
