Professor Julie Selwyn, of the Hadley Centre, School for Policy Studies, appeared on the Radio 4 programme Bringing Up Britain yesterday (3 October 2012) with Mariella Frostrup, Martin Narey and Nushra Mansuri to discuss adoption in the UK.The guests discussed immediate challenges and wider issues from passing the selection process, nurturing traumatised children and dealing with biological parents to the question of mixed race adoption and the dilemmas of keeping siblings together when they might be better apart.
With the government looking to speed up the adoption process, the programme also examined what this might mean for children in care and the adults who adopt them.
The programme can be listened to here and is repeated on Saturday 6 October at 22.15.
