School governors help make a positive contribution to children's education, and play a key part in raising school standards and ensuring the effectiveness of a school. There are no particular qualifications or requirements other than a willingness to give time to the role and a capacity for working with other people. The average time commitment is 10-15 hours per term. This includes meetings, background reading and school visits.

Current and prospective governors are welcome to attend a networking and recruitment event on Monday 18 April in the Cabot Room, The Hawthorns. Please confirm your attendance by emailing positive-working@bristol.ac.uk.
