Professional Services Excellence Awards

Nominations for this year's Professional Services Excellence Awards  are now closed. The shortlisting will begin in November. The Staff Development team would like to thank all those who put forward a nomination.

Aurora 2016-17

We are now accepting applications for the Aurora programme for 2016/17. This is a women-only leadership programme run by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. It aims to enable more women to develop the leadership side of their careers and so address the under-representation of women at senior levels in the sector. Please see our website for further details.

New Managers' Networking Event

Our next New Managers' Networking Event will take place on the 18th November from 12:00-13:30. This networking event has been set up for new and new-to-role managers to meet other new managers across the University and give them an opportunity to discuss how their roles are progressing and swap ideas and experiences. The event will be opened by the Registrar after which you will have time to network.

Professional Skills Development Workshops

Please find below dates for our professional skills development workshops for all Professional Services staff. Before booking onto a course, please read through our terms and conditions.

 Women's Self Defence Level 1
Date: 10th November
Time: 10:30-12:00
Award-winning personal safety workshop designed to empower you in your pursuit to overcome a perceived harmful event, attack or threat to survival. Please visit the website to book your place. The workshop will teach you ground manoeuvres and how to cope with physical attacks, with a focus on high-impact scenarios.


University opportunities

Part-time and short courses in English Literature

The Department of English are offering a number of part-time and short courses in English literature. These courses take place during the week, in the evenings and at weekends, in Bristol and in Bath ensuring that the work is accessible to a wide range of people. Students range in age from 19-88 and would benefit staff who would like to develop their writing, argumentation and analytical skills.

Making IT work for you

IT services provide a range of learning opportunities to help you develop the IT skills that you need for doing your job, research or study.

Autumn Art Lecture: Visualising Anicent Greek Drama. Organised by Public and Ceremonial Events

Let the vase painters of ancient Greece take you behind the scenes of theatre from over two thousand years ago. The vases discussed capture enticing traces of the performance tradition which gave birth to Western theatre. But all is not as it seems, as these paintings challenge their viewers to reflect on what theatre is. University Showcase. Organised by Public and Ceremonial Events, in association with the Festival of Ideas

The University is holding a showcase on Saturday 12 November 2016 as part of the Bristol800 celebration. Bristol800 is a partnership programme that is developing, delivering and promoting activities in 2016 that celebrate significant Bristol anniversaries along with other commemorative and special events that raise awareness and encourage debate about different aspects of the city.
