Influencing Skills

In this interactive workshop we will explore how to tap into your potential to influence. We will consider the importance of social skills in effective influence, practise these skills to influence others to achieve an identified objective, and recognise when and how to accept the opinions, values and needs of others to achieve a win/win outcome

Be a better internal candidate for jobs

The workshop will cover – assessing your skills and personal qualities, matching to job descriptions and person specifications, providing evidence of experience, writing your application, preparing for interview, and controlling interview nerves.

How to work with people whose behaviour you find 'difficult'

This workshop focuses on developing an understanding of the range of our own and other people’s behaviours, recognising how conflict arises, what triggers our reactions, and reviewing the choices we have in our response so that we can avoid conflict and work productively with others.


University opportunities

Breathing Space

Breathing Space is an experiential workshop, exploring basic mindfulness techniques to help create stillness in everyday life. In creating stillness we can respond to difficult situations with a wider perspective and clarity of mind. Breathing Space takes place in The Space, Centre for Sport, Exercise & Health, Tyndall Avenue, every third Wednesday of the month between 12.45pm-1.15pm.

Management: perspective and practice (Advanced level, 10 hrs)
This course introduces you to the role of the manager. In this OpenLearn course you’ll look at an array of activities including leadership, human resources, finance, project management, change management, operations management and stakeholder management.

The importance of interpersonal skills (Introductory level, 3 hrs)
This course will help you gain an awareness of your own skills and understand that an awareness of the interpersonal skills of others can help us enormously in dealing with the work tasks we are responsible for.
