The University of Bristol supports members of staff wishing to undertake further and higher education at colleges and universities, to obtain specific qualifications that relate to their work at the University, including professional qualifications.
Arrangements must be made between the member of staff and departmental manager regarding funding and study leave. This may be in any permutation of, for example, time to attend the course, funding of course fees and additional study time.
Time away from work may be granted with or without pay; fees may be partially of fully paid, or any variation. Consideration of the full support will be dependent on individual circumstances and must ensure the needs of the department and the individual are in harmony.
For further information and guidance on the level of support please email sd-course@bristol.ac.uk
The University does sponsor bespoke courses from City of Bristol College and other providers. These include the Introductory Certificate / Diploma in Management. Members of staff may also join the college based courses as students in the usual manner should they prefer to.
Information about NVQs will be added to this page shortly.
"A brilliant scheme that is so worth a little bit of extra time out of the normal working day, to enhance your own skills and give something back to others at the same time."
Rachel, University of Bristol Community Sport Leader
The CSLA is a national qualification that develops the organisational and communication skills required to lead groups in safe sporting or recreational activity.
Practical experience of working with local communities builds confidence and helps to develop a wider social perspective. The CSLA runs every year with the eight course modules scheduled in the autumn term and volunteering placements arranged in the spring term.
