We are committed to helping you have every opportunity to develop the skills you need to be a more confident and effective leader, manager or supervisor now and in the future, in order to achieve your own career development goals.

Whilst formal training is an important part of everybody’s portfolio, there is a great variety of developmental activities on which we can offer advice, consultancy and brokerage to produce tailored solutions for you or your managers’ needs. Many opportunities for development are open to you, just some of which are listed within the Leaders and managers course section.

As a manager and leader we can give you the support you need to succeed, starting with induction and onward through your career at the University, so that you have the knowledge, skills and competencies to do your job to the best of your ability.

Support for managers

Whether you are an aspiring, new or experienced manager, support is available for you to continually learn and develop new skills in order to improve your own personal effectiveness and that of your team. Internal courses are available to help build, motivate and develop your team, to support people through change and manage performance. We are also available to help source externally run courses and events in order to meet your particular need.

If you’re looking for a formal course with the opportunity to gain external accreditation, from basic supervisory skills to leadership for executives, we are happy to offer guidance and advice. Support for senior and middle management

We are currently working to support the development of leadership and management skills in senior and middle managers throughout the organisation. Much of this will be carried out on a one-to-one basis, or in small groups.
