Technicians' Away Day 2013 - stimulating, informative and challenging

This years' Technicians' Away Day was a stimulating, informative and challenging day for all involved.

The theme of the day was "Working together to Make things Better" and included updates from Staff Development, the Technical Managers Group and the Dean of Science - Tim Gallagher on the emerging strategy for Technical Resources and new developments in Apprenticeships, Job Shadowing and Training.  We also heard about new opportunities from the Sustainability team.

The highlight of the day was the Technicians' Fayre.  Which was a celebration of the skills and incredible diversity of our technical staff....as well as learning more about Training opportunities and benefits of joining HEaTED (the sector body championing Technical Skills), Unite, central services such as Safety and Health, Security and many more.

The group tackled a number of challenges in the 'Getting the most from....' workshops including apprenticeships, leadership, sharing knowledge and resources, induction and peer groups.
