New staff information

Welcome!

We hope that you’ve got off to a good start and that your department is helping you to settle in. The University is a large, complex organisation and it can be confusing to know who to approach for information when you first start.

Below is a quick run down of who does what during your induction and also a link to some films that we hope will help inform and support you.

Induction films

We have put together a series of short films to help raise your awareness of the University and the support that is available to you.  Covering areas such as governance, services, history and advice from current staff on 'getting started', we hope you find the selection informative and helpful.  We will be adding more films to this series over time View the staff induction films.

Your line manager

Your line manager will work with you to make sure you understand your role, your work priorities and how your role fits within the team and organisation. This is the best person to ask what is expected of you and what you should be doing.

Your Departmental Induction Co-ordinator

Each department has a nominated Induction Co-ordinator who will run through different procedures and systems with you. This is the best person to ask about where things are, how to get set up on email or calendar, or how to get into different buildings.

View our list of Departmental Induction Co-ordinators to find out who you should contact.

University induction

All new members of staff are invited to a University induction event. The induction is an opportunity for you to meet a member of the University’s senior team, learn about the University’s history and values, and meet other new starters. You will also be able to find answers to any questions you may have.

If you have any questions about the induction event or your induction at the University please contact Beckie Garland, Staff Development Adviser, Tel: 0117 92 87964 Email: beckie.garland@bristol.ac.uk
