Lloyds Scholars Programme

Lloyds Scholars Programme is a unique programme for students attending some of the top universities in the country and the University of Bristol is pleased to have been involved as one of the pilot universities. If you hold a confirmed offer of a place at Bristol you are able to apply. You must also satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

  • a household income of under £25,000
  • a UK resident or an EU student currently residing in the UK
  • starting the first year of your first degree in September / October 2014
  • on a 3 or 4 year undergraduate degree course

The application process for students starting their first year of study in September 2013 has now closed. Those applying to study at Bristol in September 2014 can register their interest and find out more about the Programme by visiting the Lloyds Scholars Programme web site.

If you are successful, you will receive your first instalment of the award during your first term at University.

Financial support for continuing Lloyds Scholars

As a Lloyds Scholar, you will receive an annual bursary, performance related end of year bonuses, paid internships and one-off cash awards for additional projects and outstanding performance.

You will receive

  • Bursaries to help you with living costs during your time at university
  • Performance related financial awards each year
  • Two paid summer internships with Lloyds Banking Group
  • A dedicated mentor from the senior management team at Lloyds
  • Rewarding volunteering opportunities
  • Workshops and activities to develop your skills
  • Events and networking opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Lloyds Graduate Leadership Programme when you finish your studies

How are you paid?

Bursary and awards for study years 1 and 2 (and 3 if you are doing a four year course).

  • £1,000 bursary at the start of each year of study to help with living costs
  • £1,000 at the end of each year for a First Class (or equivalent) result, or £500 for a 2:1 (or equivalent) result

Bursary and awards during your final year’s study

  • £1,500 bursary at the start of the year (dependent on having achieved at least a 2:1 result during one of your previous years).
  • £1,500 at the end of the year for a First Class result, or £1000 for a 2:1 result.

Internships

  • Approximately £7,000 over two paid summer internships (£3,500 per placement)

Prizes awarded on graduation

Lloyds Champion

£2,000 to the winner and £1,000 to the runner up.

Awarded to the Scholar who does the most to promote the Programme

Chief Executive’s Challenge

£2,000 to the winner and £1,000 to the runner up.

Awarded for the best report and presentation to the challenge set by our Chief Executive

Lloyds Entrepreneur

£2,000 to the winner and £1,000 to the runner up

Awarded to the Scholar with the most outstanding performance in their final internship

Lloyds Volunteering

£3,000 for an individual award or up to £1,000 per scholar for a group award (maximum £5,000 per group)

Awarded to the Scholar or team of Scholars with the most outstanding contribution through volunteering

What do Lloyds ask of their Scholars in return?

  • Complete 100 hours of volunteering in the community each year, with the support of the Lloyds Scholars team and your university’s volunteering team. For further information on volunteering please contact Jemma Harford
  • Champion the programme to future applicants and the wider community
  • Make the most of the programme and get everything out of it that you can – there will be a whole host of opportunities available to you so please take advantage of as many of them as possible and get involved!
