Research Councils

Research Councils provide funding for postgraduate study, primarily PhD research degrees.

Students interested in applying for Research Council funding should contact their departments or faculties in the first instance as application procedures vary from Council to Council.

Funding is available through Research Councils for UK and EU students only.  Overseas students are not eligible to apply for support.  Successful UK students will receive a basic maintenance stipend plus tuition fees and may be eligible to apply for additional support dependent on individual circumstances.  EU students are eligible for fee support only and would need to explore other avenues for maintenance funding.
