Welcome Week events

Welcome Week is a programme of events organised by the University, the Students' Union and your Junior Common Room if you're staying in University accommodation.

These events will welcome and introduce you to university life and help you make new friends. You are required to attend the Welcome ceremony and the Unismart Presentation as well as other compulsory events as indicated on your Welcome Week timetables. Some SU events are wristband only, but otherwise you're free to decide which events to attend.

An audience faces the stage in the Wills Memorial Building.

Academic introductions

You will be formally welcomed to the University. The events will also introduce you to your academic department, your course, your lecturers, your personal tutor and your coursemates.

Welcome ceremony

You are invited to attend a celebratory ceremony to start life at the University of Bristol.

The ceremony will include a welcome from senior academics and Bristol SU Sabbatical Officers in the Great Hall of the Wills Memorial Building.

Details of the time and date for your ceremony are in your Welcome Week timetable. You should arrive at the time outlined in your timetable to ensure you can be seated before the ceremony starts, as late arrivals may not be admitted.

There is not a formal dress code for the ceremony.

UniSmart Presentations

These are an entertaining introduction to university from Unismart, covering a range of topics to help you to manage and make the most of your time here. The presentation includes strobe lighting.

If you are in university allocated accommodation you can find the time of your presentation on your residence welcome timetable, which you will receive when you move in.

If you are in private accommodation your presentation will be at 11.30 am on Monday 18 September in the Anson Rooms, Richmond Building.
