The content on this page is for students who started in 2018. Information for 2019 courses will be available nearer the time.
We provide accommodation for students on the pre-sessional course.
You can apply for University accommodation after you have:
- received an unconditional offer
- paid your £300 online deposit.
If you have already applied for University accommodation, the Accommodation Office will contact you with information about your tenancy and the accommodation fees.
The Accommodation Office will email you arrival and moving in information, before you arrive.
Please plan to arrive at your accommodation the day before your course starts. If you arrive before this, you will need to find somewhere else to stay.
If you arrive at Heathrow Airport or Bristol Coach Station, we may be able to meet you.
Private rented accommodation
If you choose to stay in private accommodation, get advice from the Accommodation Office or Bristol SU Lettings. These University services offer advice and support when you are looking for somewhere to live.
If you decide to stay in private accommodation:
- You will have to pay Council Tax for the time you are on the course. For more information about Council Tax, download our Council Tax factsheet (PDF, 376kB).
- You must get a tenancy agreement (a contract between you and the person who owns the house you live in). This agreement confirms where you are living and you will need this document to open bank accounts.
Changes in UK law have made it difficult for students to find private rented accommodation from abroad. We advise you to book through the University Accommodation Office.
Information for agents
The Accommodation Office's guide for agents (PDF, 354kB) provides important information for agents acting on behalf of pre-sessional students.
