Students who are parents and carers

Parent and carer networks

Get in touch with other student parents at the University by joining the Student Parent Network Facebook group.

NUS Connect provides information for student parents about preparing for your studies and balancing work/life commitments.

We also have a list of useful links for carers.

Childcare

University nursery

The University day nursery accommodates children of students and staff between three months and five years of age.

Spaces are very limited. Visit the University day nursery website for further information, fees and an application form.

Local nurseries, childcare and toddler groups

Bristol City Council provides lists of local children's centres and nurseries.

The Woodland House Nursery gives priority to University staff. Woodland House Nursery became affiliated to the University of Bristol in May 2015.

Schools

Bristol City Council provides a range of information on childcare and schools in the area.

Wellbeing and support

Our Students' Health Service offers a full NHS GP practice for staff and students. All families of students are welcome to register with the practice by completing the online form on the website.

The Students' Health Service offers advice and support for carers and provides a list of local organisations that can also offer support to student carers.

Pregnancy

We are committed to supporting you appropriately through pregnancy and maternity/paternity, although the level of support that can be provided will depend on the nature and structure of your course of study, as well as your individual circumstances.

If you are a current student, you can speak to your personal tutor for guidance and support.

Funding and financial support

Explore funding opportunities and advice for students with children and other dependants. General funding opportunities are available through the Bursaries and Scholarships search
