Accommodation
The University of Bristol guarantees to provide an offer of accommodation for new full-time undergraduate, Study Abroad programme and International Foundation Programme students during their first year of study in Bristol provided that they firmly accept their offer of study, return the accommodation form by the given deadline and live outside of the Bristol area. It is possible to view the University accommodation on the annual University open days. Further information on the facilities in each residence are available on the accommodation office website, along with videos of each Hall and student house.
All residences have a warden who is responsible for residents’ welfare and discipline. Senior residents and deputy wardens assist the warden with the smooth running of the residence and each take responsibility for the pastoral well-being of a particular group of residents.
For those students who have firmly accepted Bristol as their firm choice, applications for student accommodation can be made from the June prior to entrance. New students can expect to have their residence confirmed by early September. Insurance students/late applicants will be contacted by the Accommodation Office when their place at the University is confirmed.

Safety
Bristol is a friendly and welcoming city and is generally very safe – and the University is committed to ensuring students’ personal safety. Bristol is one of the first universities in the UK to have been awarded 'secured environment' status (a police certification scheme). On arrival at the University, all students receive a security briefing which includes tips on how to keep safe whilst out and about in Bristol and in their student residence.
Security personnel have a high visual presence in Halls of Residences and around the University precinct. All University residences have internal phones which students can use to contact security services if they have any concerns; a full time police officer is also available to offer students help and advice, and the University’s Security Services provide a variety of publications on safety issues.
Support at the University
At Bristol we are just as concerned about your son/daughter’s well-being as we are about their academic studies and performance. We have a wide range of services in place to ensure that advice, guidance and practical support is available when needed. All of our students have access to an academic personal tutor who is available to help with both academic and pastoral problems. All students living in University owned accommodation can seek support and advice from wardens and senior residents.
The University's Student Health Service is one of only two full NHS GP Practices at UK universities and is therefore able to offer a wide range of services specifically tailored to the needs of our students. We also have a professional Student Counselling Service available to all students and a support unit for students with disabilities. The Students' Union runs Nightline - a confidential listening service and Just Ask - an independent advice and representation service.
The Student Funding Office is available to provide help and guidance regarding financial concerns.
